President's Comments:

The summer of 2010 flew by like 2009. It doesn’t seem possible that the President's Comments was about gnats and fishing.  We are now into the beautiful fall weather and watching the hummingbirds slowly disappear for their migration south, dealing with the meat loving bees around the barbecue, and keeping the wasps from finding an opening into our homes.   The sunflowers along roadsides stand as skeletons to remind us of what was a gorgeous month of wildflowers from the summer monsoonal rains.  They say fall is actually spring where the aspen, ash and oak leaves become the flowers.

I can see why time has passed so fast after reveiwing pictures of the remodelling of the Ranch House.  Interior renovation can be a long, tedious process and at times an eternity.  Here are some before and after pics of the work being done by volunteers.

Last year we devoted our time to the exterior of this 100 year old building.  Actually, the adobe part was added in the 40’s by Louis L. Dent when it was the Cloh Chin Toh Ranch.  The main wood structure was built in the 1910s.  The November issue of the Timberlake Times will have an extensive article about Mr. Dent.

We are saddened to see some of our Timberlake residents leaving regardless whether they were renters or landowners.  Some are relocating, others going to warmer winter weather and, regretfully, two passing away.  Our best wishes are with you for a safe journey and our sincere condolences to the families during the grieving process.  We also welcome those who have “moved into the neighborhood” and will be experiencing their first Timberlake winter.

The Board will be having only one more public meeting before we take a break for the winter months.  Many Timberlake residents are hoping the coming winter will be less severe than last year. Last month the Albuquerque Journal reported La Niña is gaining strength in the Pacific Ocean. La Niña is characterized by colder ocean temperatures in the Equatorial Pacific which tend to push the storm track further north resulting in fewer winter storms for New Mexico.
