Welcome to The TIMBERLAKE Neighborhood Volunteers Page!

So who are we you ask? We are a lively group of active Women making community happen at Timberlake. Come Join Us!

ice cream3rd Annual Ice Cream Social

(Posted 7-15-09)Timberlake Neighborhood Volunteers treated the community to an Ice Cream Social on July 12th at the Timberlake Community Center. Hostesses Barb Duncan, Harriet Lawrence, Claire Knowles, Kathy Boller, and Eileen Domer presented a table that would make Dairy Queen envious.  Over 70 enthusiasts took advantage of the various ice cream choices and toppings.  Many browsed through the wide selection of books in the library while enjoying their sundaes, or sat at the picnic tables under the trees, meeting new friends and chatting with old."

(Posted 2008) Fun Social Events planned for the neighborhood at Timberlake include; potlucks, a yard sale, a luncheon, an ice cream social, and movie night. The Spaghetti dinner in September and October fest are coming up! We welcome everyone to join our group and attend these social events. Our next meeting is September 10th, all meetings are held at 11 a.m. usually at the Ranch house.

The Ice Cream Social that was held on Sunday, August 3rd, was a gratifying success! TNV hosted its second "Ice Cream Social" in the Book Room at the Ranch House. Despite the earlier rain showers and overcast skies, lots of folks turned out to enjoy the delicious ice cream sundaes, a real do-it-yourself creativity! They also had time to admire the new bookshelves, the sofa, and checked out the books, DVD's, videos, and puzzles. A guesstimated sixty-five folks came by car, truck, horse, and ATV's to eat ice cream sundaes with neighbors known and new. A word of thanks to all who volunteed labor, supplies, time, and contributed books, etc. Special thanks to TNV's Harriet, Barbara and Pat for a great job of serving and hosting this event.

TRLA BATHHOUSE GETS FACELIFT
(Posted 9-17-08) On August 26th the bathhouse at the Timberlake Community Center Ranch House received a long overdue exterior refinishing. Landowner and retired commercial painter Herb Gray volunteered his time, materials and expertise to completely scrape, power wash and recaulk the building before the actual painting of the walls and trim. Thank you, Herb – the bathhouse now has a superb professional appearance.

(Posted 9-17-08)Tom Merritt, Dan St. Charles, Danny Montoya, and Bill Wolford set in place the new Timberlake community bulletin board next to the Volunteer Fire Department and mailboxes. Funds were donated by the Timberlake Neighborhood Volunteers with design and construction by Dan St. Charles. There is now enough space for Community Events, Classifieds, Neighborhood Watch, and Rosie Alert/Lost & Found. The old bulletin board will be removed, renovated and placed in the Cloh Chin Toh subdivision.

The Fun Salad Luncheon potluck, held on July 20th, served up fruit, potato, macaroni, chicken, greens and mandarin orange to name a few of the salads enjoyed by some 35 people. Thanks to Darlene, Eileen, and Linda for planning and hosting this event.

Highlights from the August meeting:
We were happy to welcome Jackie Rossignol who attended our meeting for the first time. Pam Antosh and Julie Farrell returned and its great to have these new people interested and involved. Thanks to all who are part of TNV for the great support and work that is ongoing.

Treasurer Claire Knowles reported we have $ 1960.24 available in our account.

The adopted Standing Rules were read and discussed. The group views these guidelines as an evolving document designed to keep the group focused on building community in Timberlake.

Discussion was held on how effective we have been advertising the events we hold for the community. We will attempt to place signs near the roadways announcing time and events to be held. The signs will be reusable and we also could attach balloons for attraction. Look for them for the next event. The Spaghetti Dinner, Sept.14th. Along this line, Linda Pedersen, is coordinating a new bulletin board for the area near the mailbox station by the firehouse. We will keep you posted on this project when completed. Karin Brunner will refurbish the old bulletin board for a location near the entrance to Timberlake, in the Cloh Chin Toh area.

Saturday, August 16th, TNV Movie Night under the Stars, err ceiling of the Rock House…
Well we had great plans to enjoy the movie, The Bucket List outside under the stars, but it wasn't meant to be. Instead, we all bonded together quickly grabbing equipment, electrical cords, chairs, hotdogs, and bug spray and gathered in the Rock Room to watch a great movie and a beautiful lightening show.

One of Timberlake Neighborhood Volunteers goals is to work to foster a sense of community. I believe that the movie night helped promote that goal. It was a great evening, eating and watching a movie with 20 of your friends.

I want to thank everyone who came out and participated. A special thank you goes out to Linda Pedersen for mowing, cooking and a list of other things. Eileen Domer for assistant to the chef and helping to set up the equipment. Ted Rodda, Dick Knowles, and Karin Brunner for their muscling of the equipment and many others who helped do, undo, redo, load, unload, and reload. I thank you all.
Alice Bybee-

Kudoo's to our Movie Director, Alice Bybee for making the arrangements to show the movie, The Bucket List, starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nickleson. A bittersweet and very funny movie. If anyone remembers what was on the bucket list, please send them to the editor at trnews.info/

Save this date, September 14th 5 pm Spaghetti Dinner

Please checkout our TNV standing rules.
TNV Standing Rules

1. Our primary purpose for the group is to build community through social and work activities.
2. Our meetings are held once a month, year round, during the lunch hour, weather permitting. At each April meeting, we will bring ideas and make plans for the New Year.
3. Our treasurer Claire Knowles handles our checkbook with Karen Brunner as second signer on the account. The treasurer also provides petty cash forms and project request forms.
4. We conduct ourselves by members taking turns facilitating each meeting. Another person takes notes, emails or mails the minutes to the members.
5. We follow a simple agenda form at each meeting.
6. We plan for our activities during each meeting.
7. The income to fund our activities is derived from donations, special projects, rummage sales, map sales, special dinners, etc. by the group and our community.
8. All activities are brainstormed at meetings. If an activity cost is within petty cash $50.00 or under, it can be voted and funded at the meeting. Anything over petty cash amount, project will be presented one month and voted on the next month, providing ample time for questions that might arise and to clarify the total cost for the project.
9. Any disbursement of petty cash requires a completed form and given to the treasurer.
10. For all adopted activities, a project request form needs completion and submittal to TVN.
11. For activities requiring the use of TCC Ranch House, a form provided by the Board must be completed and submitted to the TRLA for approval for ranch use.
12. Currently, Carol Rodda and Alice Bybee act as editors for Roger Irwin's Web site.
Information regarding TNV will be posted on Web page once a month following the meeting.
