 (Posted
11-12-07) Timberlake Ranch Volunteers at it again. What would we do without so
many landowners volunteering at no pay to make the ranch better for all of us?
Ted Rodda and Dick Knowles beginning facelift to Bath House after it was closed
for the season on Oct. 31st. Thanks Guys.
 (Posted
10-15-07)We've never had a year like this with so many volunteers working to make
the ranch a better place. Hooray for Frank Lambert with his handy dandy posthole
digger and Alan Burnam preparing holes for new signs on Roadrunner/Elk and SunriseFoxtail
Ct.

BURN
PILE BURN! (Posted 8-26-07)In
order to minimize fire danger on the ranch, for several years TRLA has encouraged
members to bring tree trimmings down to the pile beside the community center,
where they are eventually burned. The most recent burn took place at 9:00 on Sunday,
August 19, when Bill Wolford (AKA Wolf) and other members of the Timberlake Volunteer
Fire Department separated the piles and set fire to them. Members stood two hours
shifts until 10 PM to make sure the fire remained under control, then returned
the next two mornings with the fire truck to spray water on smoldering ashes.
Members are encouraged to continue to trim trees
on their lots, especially those close to any structures, in order to reduce fire
danger, and bring their trimmings down to the burn pile. As always we remind people
that only tree trimmings pine needles and brush should be involved. Please do
not dispose or trash or construction debris on the burn piles

Hey
- do you remember these signs - they were leaning against shed where tractor
is stored?! Shirl Henderson on the left and Beth Ramsey on the right
using their artistic talents in repainting one of the 2 panorama scenes which
will be reattached to the larger Timberlake Ranch Association signs and placed
at entrance to Timberlake South and Timberlake Ranch at the cattle guard in the
near future.
 Donated
culverts arrive (Posted 8-23-07) On
August 21 large culverts were delivered as a donation for the extensive repairs
on Cedar Road. We are all indebted to Board member Jerry Tollner for finding the
donor. Community spirit is alive and well in Timberlake Ranch!

(Posted
8-23-07) On the evening of Friday, August 10, the Timberlake Volunteers, a raucous
group of TRLA folks committed to enhancing our community, served an abundant and
delectable Italian dinner at the old ranch house. Seventy-seven people scarfed
lasagna, Chicken Alfredo, Spaghetti, chilled pasta salad, green salad from local
gardens, and desserts to die for. Dinner was served on tables scattered beneath
the elms, while Tony Rice plucked from his magic guitar more versions of Oh Solo
Mio than one could shake a stick at (or more properly, than at which one could
shake a stick). Although a wiser person would
not select one item for special mention among such a vast and delicious array
of viands, this writer notes that the tiramisu prepared by our President Linda
Pederson, laced as it was with amaretto and espresso, was exquisite. The
money generated will be added to funds already raised by the volunteers, and used
for projects such as repairing and repainting street signs, and repairing and
replacing bulletin boards. There will be one more big volunteer event this yearwatch
this space for its announcement. Thanks to the
volunteers, for all they are doing to improve Timberlake and enhance our sense
of community. Members of the group are: Linda Pederson, Karin Brunner, Pat Burnam,
Harriet Lawrence, Linda Shopp, Darlene Merritt, Kathy Boller, Lucia Amsden, Linda
Lahmon Bires, Barbara Duncan-Gaudio, Nancy Dobbs, Claire Knowles, Eileen Domer,
Pam Mansperger, and Carol Rodda. If you wish to join this august group, call Linda
Pederson at 783-2465. Here are the statistics,
but they in no way capture the beauty of the sunset, the aromas and flavors of
the evening, or the open-heartedness of the community that gathered that night:
77 people served, $403 ticket sales, $30.40 donations, $160 expenses (music, table
cloths, plates, cups, napkins, + some to defray cost of 5 pans of lasagna) --$333.40
cleared. Food that was totally consumed: chicken
alfredo, gluten-free spaghetti, most desserts. Leftovers:
7 servings of lasagna (less than half a pan), some fantastic pesto spaghetti,
some bread and some salad, half a pan of tiramisu, a few pieces of cake and lots
of iced tea and salad. Individuals interested in leftovers can contact Linda Pederson,
but be warned that time has given the lasagna a furry green patina.

TIMBERLAKE
YARD SALE A BIG SUCCESS (Posted 6-24-07)
On Sunday June 17, the Timberlake Volunteers, a rowdy group of landowners committed
to enhancing our sense of community in this lovely place, held a yard sale in
the shade of the elms that surround the old ranch house. Despite the gnat season
and the distance from Highway 53, attendance was brisk, purchases continuous,
and $576.59 was made. The items sold were donated and the proceeds have gone into
a fund that will be used to improve the community center and other common and
community aspects of the ranch. Some of the fastest
selling items (besides the delicious donuts and several varieties of coffees)
were perhaps 30 artificial plant and flower arrangements, which appeared anonymously
during the night before the sale. Thanks go to our benefactor whose identity will
enter the rolls of Timberlake stories and mysteries, along with the tales of UFO
sightings and the ghost of Polly Ann Hamblin, which is said to walk the road between
the two old ranch houses in her nightgown. Watch
out for the Timberlake Volunteersthey are on a toot and rumor has it that
there is a high tea and an Italian dinner in their (and our) future.
